Newsletter February 2008

Welcome to everyone and we hope you all have a very enjoyable season. Last season was a huge success for the Junior Section and the interest and enthusiasm within the club was excellent. We hope to build on this again during the coming season.

Coaching

We have a number of dedicated volunteer parent coaches who give an enormous amount of time and effort freely to the club and we wish to thank them all for their help. We would like to encourage any other parents who feel they would like to become involved in coaching to let us know. There are several parents of our younger members who we know have lots of cricketing experience and with our growing numbers of younger children we would be very pleased to involve some new parents.

Arnie Sidebottom, former Yorkshire and England cricketer, who provided excellent coaching in our winter nets, has also agreed to carry out some coaching during the season.

Parent Support

Parental support and enthusiasm was excellent last season. There was a very good social atmosphere on Friday practice evenings and also on match days.

Once again we are going to need a lot of parental support this season.

We are asking every parent to sign their name on one of the rotas (the fun and camaraderie of the tuck shop is not to be missed!!)

IF EVERYONE DOES A LITTLE THEN NOBODY HAS TO DO A LOT.

We are all volunteers and for the club to be successful we need your help.

Clothing

After the very successful launch of our own cricket clothing 2 seasons ago we are once again selling cricket jackets, match and training shirts, and tracksuit bottoms. Details and order forms can be found on our website. We are very grateful to Adele Garlick who has agreed to take over the organisation of the clothing this season.

A club identity was created and the teams looked very professional when they arrived for matches.

Website                  www.thongsbridgecc.co.uk      or     www.tbjcc.co.uk

Thanks to the hard work of Oliver and Jill Myall a website was set up for us last season. We would like players and parents to use and support the site even more this season. Club information, newsletters, forms (including clothing forms) will be on the site and if anyone would like to contribute any items we would be pleased to receive them.

We would particularly like to encourage players/parents or supporters etc. to submit match reports as this would add a lot of interest to the site. Match reports can be emailed to Jill Myall at jillianmyall@hotmail.com who will endeavour to add them to the website promptly.
